1ST WORLD CONSENSUS AND GUIDELINES MEETING ON PERIHILAR CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA

IMPROVING ONCOSURGICAL OUTCOMES THROUGH SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE

The main objective of this consensus conference is to provide unbiased international guidelines for the diagnosis and management of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma(pCCA). To prevent conflicts of interest in drawing the final recommendations, we adhere to the jury-based Zurich-Danish model – a validated approach for building consensus (ref 1), as previously and successfully used in various areas (ref 2-6). The main principle relies on an independent Jury from various horizons but importantly without direct connections with the field of pCCA. The jury, and not the experts, will produce the final recommendations

Eight panels constituted of 7-10 International experts will prepare evidence-based responses to specific questions and each panel chair will present the respective recommendations at the time of the conference in Milan ( December 5-6, 2024). Based on these presentations and the on-site discussion among the experts, jury members and the audience, a jury will produce the final recommendations, which will be published in a prestigious Journal.

Aside of the formal consensus conference, we will have free papers and video presentations as well as four special lectures delivered by prominent individuals.

Therefore, there are many reasons to join us in Milan, a historic and vibrant city, plenty of charm and timeless beauty, as we advance the clinical and scientific understanding of pCCA.
